at the international conference of the Portrait Society of America! 

Celebrating a quarter century of a passion for the portrait, The Art of the Portrait conference will be held May 11-14, 2023 in Washington, D.C. BIG plans are in the works for a GRAND event, and you will want to be a part of this historical gathering.​

     Learn how to capture a subject’s true personality and set the stage to create timeless portraits with the expert guidance of Thomas Caleb Goggans. Whether you are working with a model to paint from life or getting reference images to work from later, this workshop will help you gain the knowledge, skills, and techniques for confidence and success.
     In this three day workshop, Mr. Goggans will demonstrate how to build rapport with a subject, explore ideas and possibilities on location, orchestrate a beautiful image, and bring a portrait to life in paint.

MASTERING the MOOD at the BOOTH MUSEUM ART ACADEMY

 Paintings that move us deeply and delight us the most are the ones that capture a feeling and mood that is meaningful, familiar, and powerful. This workshop is all about learning to capture the mood of moments we experience where the light, the people, the place, and the point in time create feeling and memory.   Thomas Caleb Goggans will lead each attendee in understanding how to capture their special images. Through demonstrations, info loaded conversations, visual inspiration, and personal guidance, participants will learn all about achieving meaningful artwork.

SKB WYOMING WORKSHOP & RENDEZVOUS
​Dubois, Wyoming - September 18th-23rd, 2022

The SKB Workshop & Rendezvous is where artists come to immerse themselves in the incredible landscape of the gorgeous and wild Rocky Mountains and surround themselves with skilled and accomplished artist instructors. This is an incredible week of full of world class art teaching, fantastic meals, and the company of wonderful friends!  Thomas Caleb Goggans, fifteen other world class returning instructors, and this year's headline artists Aaron Blaise and Julie Jeppsen are providing 60 hours of personal art instruction! The workshop is located in Dubois, WY, in the heart of the Wind River Valley, just over the pass from Jackson Hole.

Landscape Workshop with Artist Thomas Caleb Goggans

Friday – Sunday, October 7 – 9, 2022

Few things are more mesmerizing than a mirrored landscape in beautiful water. Capturing such richly layered scenes is achieved through confident use of color, well-articulated light, accurate drawing, and an organized approach. Thomas Caleb Goggans, a nationally recognized contemporary naturalist painter, will help each attendee approach composing an image with confidence, gain a deeper understanding of paint and color, a greater mastery of materials, and discover the power of a strong plan coupled with experimentation.
​Participants will learn about developing a clear vision, applying intentional progression, and achieve inspiring artwork through demonstrations, info loaded talks, personal critiques, and individual guidance in this three day workshop.
