Every Spring my wife and I take our kids to the beach, usually in the area of Topsail Hill Preserve on the Florida Gulf. The dunes there are remarkably pristine and unspoiled, with abundant wildlife, gorgeous wildflowers, and mature coastal trees and shrubs. One morning I was up before my girls, so I grabbed my little cigar box pochade and headed down the winding lane and boardwalk until I found this spot a little off to the side an out of sight to paint in the cool light of the morning. For a couple hours it was just me, the seagulls, my paint, and a curious alligator who hung out nearby to offer his critique. I really enjoy doing these brief, direct, energetic little paintings at places like these, creating precious artifacts of a place, for more meaningful than any cell phone camera snapshot.
This piece is available in two gorgeous frame options, which each lend their own personality to match your style. Abingdon is warm, sophisticated, and at home with any décor.
